I was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in
a small town in Illinois near Chicago. I have a B.A. from Blackburn College
in Carlinville, IL, and an M.A. in English from Middelbury College in Vermont.

I first taught English and French at Effingham High School in Illinois, then
English and drama at McKinley Tech High School, Wasington, DC, and finally
English at Joliet Community College, Joliet, Illinois.
