Founded in 1984 as OCS Laboratories, Bio-Synthesis, Inc. became the first producer of commercially available synthetic DNA. In 1985, the company expanded its operation to became a producer of synthetic peptides. Five years later, OCS became incorporated as Bio-Synthesis, Inc. and moved its laboratories to Lewisville.
