Honor Points Question

Hi, Sorry to bring this question to the group, but I have looked for an answer in FAQ and can't find one. Everytime I get a notice that one of my friends have joined under me the email tells me I get one more honor point and yet my honor points stay the same on my page. Does anyone have an answer to this? Is it because I haven't downloaded the desktop thing?
