Death of Apsense Competition?

I have noticed as Apsense evolves slowly but surely all the obvious competitive measurements are disappearing.  Where did our weekly spotlight score go? How about the weekly group leaders?     What I find truly interesting is as surly as the ‘Soccer Moms’ feel safe and secure that we all have a level playing field with no winners or losers, others recognize there is a rich and dynamic environment to control opportunities.   The secret is to break from conventional social network approaches.  As Apsense shifts from its pioneering mode to that of a growth mode (to stabilize its network) we too must shift our strategies to best make use of our time on Apsense.     Competition as we've known it here at Apsense is dead. Not that the competition is vanishing. In fact it is intensifying. We just need to think about it differently.

I don´ t use voting at all and presently disabled my business center cause i want to offer different content. I thought the projected live broadcast or the present ichannel included video, guess, i was wrong. i still hope, Apsense will develope further into multimedia direction, i am not an internet marketer, tried it, but that is no deal for me, Video production is the future.
A better 2008 for everyone!

Hi Jenny,

I am not getting into the BC voting debate with you yet again.
You have posted these same comments in so many threads.
You know very well my opinions on it.

Okay competition is abundant to production and creativity in productivity of a work enviroment. However, to me social networking is like and ice cream social without the ice cream just a bunch of sweet and nice people sharing topics of interest and friendships that make life and work combined a nice combination. Oh my gosh did I just write that? Yes I did it really sounds good and it makes sense. Anyone agree or disagree?

Great point made there!

It is much more important that ApSense keeps ahead of the game as a popular Social Network and great place to be, than it is to have a lot of internal competition

Noone joins a new site because so and so is top of the list. they join because they like the overall quality that they see

I stand corrected on the biz centre scores, BJ, but I think the "blame" goes to the poeple who vote and not the person voted for. Because right now we cannot go and vote for the biz

Hey, no problem, I really forget about links when I posted, but, you know, I will post again without link: About competition: for me, seems that owners and partners are in the "sleep mode" here and they think that iChannels are invention for Nobel award or something like that (in deleted post I compared this with invention of "Hot water"...).
I'm not shure if they know that competition should be outside, with other social networks not inside. Inside you set up automated mechanism for competition

Hm.. saw that rules here are more important than content. A person who deleted my post should easily delete just link not whole post.

heh, I'm pretty new here, but almost in beggining saw that there's not something clear. from one side in discussions some people are excited with Apsense like this is miracle with great potential and I don't know what else, from other side mostly a lot of non business content.. Really, few things where the Apsense is different from other social networks are: Business center - this is really great idea, and very expensive membership for VIP and partners (comparing with other communities). But fo

Ok not sure where to begin with my post so much has happened since before Christmas and all the good stuff has gone. I have to agree with everyone so far. I am not sure about APSense any longer. I to miss the high light score and other points of interest no longer here.

Hi Jenny?

Ever though of checking facts before posting?

I suggest you look at the FONT (HOME) PAGE.

You will find you are NOT 2nd you have been relegated to 4th.

And As I said 2nd place is held by a site that should not even be in the 6 + in its current state.

I am also happy to see the obvious "competitive" scores go. It was rather like being back i high school and seeing who could get top marks by fair means or foul.

I agree with Jeff, people will participate if they wish, and for no other reason. The absence of silly scoring means does not act as a deterrant to me to post - it just means that I can post when it is possible and I have something to say, instead of posting to keep my score up. It is all better for quality content in my view and ag

I never really noticed the score and stuff because it was and sometimes is really. really slow here-- The absense of action, as far as posting good content was totally palpable even with the incentive of "Competition"... The ABC Exchange hardly even gets used, and there are a lot of un-altered business centers... A dearth of really good and interesting sites to rate...

Sometimes, the "competitive" stuff isn't really enough to get Humans motivated into action... Raising their interests throug

Hi Val,

look on the bright side.

More people getting more exposure instead of the same people week in week out being shown and new members not getting a look in because they don't have enough friends to fix things and boost them.

Less BS being posted and topped just to get the poster in the spotlight.
Now we are seeing far more quality in the posts.

The only thing left is the TOP BC's on the front page which I notice has been seriously abused again with a BC that has no content bei

I have to say I really miss the spotlight score. Not just because I liked making it there...but loved seeing the 'newbies' come out of hiding and get there.
I have noticed the slow death of Apsense since that was taken away also. Although folks are still posting...not like they were. Including me :0)

This is an interesting post, Valerie. Not sure that I under-
stand it though. Competition is just a fact of life. Some
people are good a certain things and others excel in a
different area. And there will always be a winner & a loser.

How should we think of competition at ApSense?

Happy New Year,
Paula/BoomSpress
