Members at Apsense are running scared.

I have received many comments from contacts that Apsense is getting to be a negative place. I Don’t agree!! After spending several days with the Top it or Drop it sociology, I think a few simple changes would fix our problem. First - Change the terminology to - I Agree or I Disagree. People are taking the Top it or Drop it personally and frankly I think some people are using it to dig at other members personally. To drop someone is personal whereas it is acceptable to disagree with someone professionally. Next- (And most Important) - Base a persons score on the number of votes not how many people agree with them. With the system as it is right now a person could have 50 votes half Top it and half Drop it. Now their score is -1. Then someone comes along and writes a cute little note that means nothing and their two friends Top it. They are a +2 The person that brought the most traffic through good conversation looses and I believe this is where the negative feelings are coming from. With the NEW system - If someone DARES to SPAM - well no votes keeps them at a ZERO where they belong. With the Old system- Members feel like they are in the middle of an online version of the TV series Survival, and you have to play a sociology game to get + votes. Many things I have written would never see the light of day if I had to please everyone. * On a personal note – I am addicted to Apsense. We are seeing a member driven site develop at an incredible pace. What I love is truly how much power Apsense has given the voice of its members to shape the program.

I agree. I'm glad that you stepped up to the plate and said some things that needed saying. I believe people should have a right to have their say even if people don't agree with them. My hat is off to you.

We are all suppose to be in a social network correct? Well whats the problem with us coming together to build each others businesses? I have a desire to join anyone that will join mines.
Why is that when you refer someone they turn around and invite you. Okay now lets look at the picture here.
When you sign up on a referal in hopes that your invite will join your program based on a promise, they never do but yet you kept you end of the bargain by joining under them. Why do people do that. To me

Hi Gary,

I think you only read the main topic and not the follow up posts

"The Dreaded Drop is defunct and is now just a miserable memory in the minds of all but the most petty minded!"

You were right!

I personally have never liked the drop it feature. I feel that it is a very negative thing. If people just don't like you because you have a lot of honor points or they don't like your product or ad does not mean that what you are showing is bad. I have never showed anything that is a scam. I do believe that people that promote scams should be prosecuted. But it is usually done in such a way as to trick you into giving them some money to start with them. I don't trust any of those websites that

Hi Val,

Great to se that this is now a "historical topic"!

The Dreaded Drop is defunct and is now just a miserable memory in the minds of all but the most petty minded!

ApSense has now returned to being a great place to be and the ads seems to be having less impact and presence in the blogs and Group pages. I attribute this to the sheer weight of other and better content!!

Jeunelle - you crack me up - of course you are 1000€ right when you say "The rule that everything has to be co

I have not run into any problems. I really just became really active in Apsense within the last couple of weeks, though I've been a member for 6 months. I was new to Buiness Social Networking, and I did not realize just what a great thing it was, until I started spending more time here.

So far, and I've mentioned several other places on Apsense now, it has became my favorite Social Network.

I'm a "scaredy cat"..lol, No..not really, but doI hope I don't run into "Drama"..lol.

Someone had reported they want to keep Apsense as free as possible from all the scammers and spammers. I would like to do that also and feel like scammers are far worse than spammers. I tried to sign up for this program hit2u which I am so upset about. Don't go there, I am so upset about the crap they put me through and after contacting their tech support all I received was a canned response that had nothing to do with my question. A dead give a way on a scammer.

Also no way to actually un-in

Thanks for bringing my attention to this "stuff"! I prefer spending my time with real people rather than a blog. I invited a lot of people before reviewing this site more closely and I should not have sent out the invites. Who cares what other's think. The only one we have to be comfortable and honest with is ourselves. If you believe in what you are doing, stay the course!!!!

Apsense has been nothing but a positive experience for me. As far as the whole top it or drop it thing goes, I think it would be difficult to make any kind of a system like this work perfect, after all were all people here and I'll be the first to admit I'm not perfect. Personally, I tend to ignore the point systems and focus more on the content of what is written. Of course, this is just my opinion and no matter what I may say, it wouldn't please everyone and it would be nuts to even think i

Hi All,

It is good to hear that the Drop it button is relegated to an insignificant place - in fact I agree with all those people who would like to see it gone - it is another little bit of unnecessary power without accountability over other member's contributions.

Yes I agree with all those here who understand that it has nothing to do with SPAM.

Some people mind about spam more than others - but there are 100 reasons for making a drop it apart from Spam - like it is a competitor's program

Hi Lynn
Thanks for the reply. I will continue to put them in that category then. Thanks for all the help yourself & BJ have given. I just love this community! If people try to be patient , all things will be worked out, everyone needs to remember that we are still a new community and new things are being added and changed on a regular basis.

Blessings & much Success

Why not just have a "top it" and lose the "drop it"? I understand that devious peepz will still have their friends "top" their worthless subjects and blogs, but at least this would stop the petty peepz from "dropping" quality content that is rising to the top.

Hi James,

I have re read every post in this thread and there really is no point in reposting what you have said again and again.

If we make a Blog post that is an ad it does not matter what any of us think, it belongs in the Classifieds Category.

I was the one that originally pointed this out to you but I was unfortunatly tied up and did not see the this thread right away.
so Lynn has been responding.

Lynn has pointed out as I have that where ads belong is not a single members o

Thanks, Wincer, for pointing that out about the new 'obscure' location of 'drop it'. I hope all members are aware of this. Dear 'drop it', accept my sympathy for your new hidden location.

James,
I do understand the main point of your post. You feel that people have their own opinions about which posts or blogs belong where. But, what I have stated is not my opinion, it is the way that the blog categories are set up. Your blogs were advertisements...they contained live links and banners. That is why they belong in the classified ad section. Before the blog categories were put in place members advertised so much in them. So we listened and made categories. And just ONE of these
