Hi Philippe, the long response/article/submission from Yoda contains swear words , "masked" by omitting one vowel, but the essence of the word is there in all it's glory. Here's an example taken from the first paragraph:"..... turns into one gigantic "hell no, you just fckin pissed me the fck off" and this is true... "
I won't personally write in a public domain using such a style and don't appreciate that someone addresses his otherwise very sensible article/reply to ME and talk like that...
My own that do not receive clicks!! :-)
The absolute worst to me is when you first affiliate with a program and 80 different people are now in your email as if they are the one who sponsored you.
(This must be related to ads I have seen about "completely legal steal from xxxxx" etc.)
Thank you, Yoda. Never realized I would elicit a doctoral thesis, including too many masked cuss words thrown at me... WOW! Enjoy the day, too... but I'll go walk the dog to work all that out of my system...
@Joe In certain markets, one or two popups max may be effective, especially for selling big ticket items where price vs value is a big question where your prospect are saying to themselves, "should I really buy, do I really have that kind of money, will I really make it back as a result of my investment?", but any more than that becomes an annoyance, you're not really adding and additional "no's" to the equation by installing a third and so forth popup, regardless of which market you happen to
I couldn't resist posting this link ( it's not from my blog and wasn't written by me ), I just saw it: "My Data Shows Email Popups Work and Don’t Hurt"
Yes Joe, ads seem to be a necessary evil. You just can't seem to escape them, and most likely we will have to put up with them. According to some, yes those annoying pop-up do seem to work. Good luck with yours, and I hope that you don't turn off those clients and customers that have come to appreciate that you haven't used them yet.
This question has given us a chance to have a bit of rant, and move on to creating our own ads, that hopefully won't annoy everyone else.
However little we like ads, they're n essential part of what makes the world tick, not just the internet. That said, I agree wit ll of you, my brudders and sista's, but if you could believe those who throw about statistics, that pop up thingy has created a whole bunch of extra income. Personally I have never used it, but actually found a very simple script the other day and will soon be using them!! I'm soooo excited that you'll finally be screaming at me too!!! Nobody mentions adverts that are
What I do find annoying is adverts that when you say no make you click a link to leave that has something like ..so, you don't like to save money, you would be foolish to miss this or some such nonsense (as if I'm too stupid to see how good it is). Of course I like to save money. There may be many reasons why I am not purchasing that product right now...but only one reason as to why I'm not coming back!
2 years ago, for a short time, there were pages with about 5 or more pop ups, it was revealed that a group of marketers had decided to rip off people by creating packages of material that already existed. The pages all were done about the same way, I don't mean the same content, but the information, text, video, opt-in form were all placed about the same.
Nowadays, I don't get often to pages with more than 1 pop up. Since some people in this thread say they have seen it, I wonder where they got
Neville, Philippe and Chuck, I agree with you. I thought about signing up for EN several months after it came out, but I didn't see the point. It's just blogging. And if I'm not mistaken, isn't PL just an autoresponder? I'm so tired of clicking on a link that takes me to the same EN or PL site.
Philippe mentions two of the most annoying time-worn pitches from EN and PL.
Their a small cadre of high earner through EN but soon the growth will be curtailed.
And PL is just a re-hash and package of what he has been offering in the past.
The products are mediocre and would have little benefit to a professional marketer becasue of their limitations
Neville, you don't like ads from the Empower Network members, or the PureLeverage members? :)
They are very popular, that's for sure.
What bothers me the most is auto-play videos, and videos with no control buttons, and videos we have to watch until the end before we see a button to click

Remember who your audience is, and use tracking to see if indeed if pop ups work for you or not.

I find pop-ups super frustrating! Especially the ones that you have to click out of 10 times. UGGG!!
