Communication... what managers say is not always what employees hears. In my experience, tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them again.
I would say that motivation is the common issue, because if the people that are being recruited don't have the right mindset or even have a strong "WHY" to fuel their desires to be consistent and over come temporary set backs. The people that you recruit will not have the motivation to push forward and become loyal employees or even successful business owners.
