Writer - Zen practitioner

As a Zen practitioner, I see issues like this as neither right nor wrong. It is about how we are conditioned. If we *feel* it is wrong, then we need to address this feeling and transcend it. I follow that precept of doing no harm... Ultimately, we know within us whether it is appropriate for us to do something. :-)

It's not wrong at all to think highly of yourself. But you have to also remember that other people are just as important as you, this will keep you humble. The way we think also determines our reality. So it is imperative you think of yourself highly so that you bring good, desirable experience into your life.

Confidence and arrogance are 2 different animals; one draws people, one repels. The right measure of confidence mixed with a spoonful of humility, blended with the desire to constantly improve... otherwise how highly you think of yourself may not be the same bar others see.
