Dai, this being done but on a larger scale it is why I'm here to see if I could get the community here to stop feeding off each other and attack (in a good way) social sites. The so called gurus do it all the time...Facebook, Twitter, etc...There are hundreds of sites as you said Dai.
I figure there are 20k somewhat solid marketers that join up...all it would take is 10-20 minutes a day to make a solid impact. Good thinking!
Still if we will all upvote each other they will notice that. It will be better if we will not each upvote all of the others post, but only some of them. This way there will be a variety.
Another way to make it safer - most people have more than one reddit account (hm hm...) and can switch IP from time to time, so it is possible to upvote with different nicks and different IPs.
I think if you open such a group it must be very private. Reddit follower are fanatics.
It is risky. If reddit will find-out about it they will ban your account, and worse - your site. However, that doesn't mean you can't do it if you will do it smartly...
Right now if your website has something to do with online writing - you are welcome to submit it to my group onlinewriting - I will gladly help out.
Another possibility (and it has a bigger option of driving traffic to your website) is to submit it to a normal sub-reddit that relative to your website, and that we will all become
