You should not comment on your own blog. Instead of that comment on others comment.

Go comment on theirs. Commenting is often a mutual thing. Also, let people know that you have written a new article and that comments are invited. In fact, make that part of your closing paragraph too.

Find groups and forums in the same niche as your blog, same on social sites. Basically, tell people your blog exists and you want them to comment.

Yes they are very important to increse your credibility. The more readers, the greater are the possibilities to increase your business.

It's always a good idea to reply to comments that add something to the original articles. Thank the contributor, comment on any points they have made and try to further the discussion. If your article is a good opening to a conversation, you will get more engaged readers.

Adding comments should be systematically done. Allow visitors to comment mostly while you wait for that salient moment, where your comments will be most appreciated.
