No at all,this has nothing to do with ranking. A good BACK LINK will give you rank. There are other factors that makes a website get ranking. Make sure your domain will expire in next 5 years,this will make Google think you serious and allow people able to comment on your website. Comment is very important
If that's the main site, then put it in the root of the domain. From a quick visit, you have a site on the root and a site in /blog, which I don't understand: normally, the main site is the promotional material and the blog is full of regular posts, intended to educate and interest people in your services.
If you want the blog to be the main site and cut off all access to what is currently the main site, then you could use a permanent redirect (a 301 in the htaccess file).
/blog is only for the bloggers and other search engine factors, if you are a company that provides SEO services, then it better to keep a simple "yourdomain.com" link and for other stuff make another folder into the root directory named as blog, this makes you keep both the options open.
And also your search engine rankings will improve, keeping in mind that you are working for the .com domain try to build links for it and to give content credit on your site make .com/blog for posts, articles
