@Lisa - the dollars (or any other fiat currency you hold) is not YOUR money to begin with. It belongs to the issuing authority and the money you hold is in effect a DEBT you owe to the issuing authority. They can charge you high fees/interest rates, impose taxes, confiscate your life's earnings (as it happened recently in Cyprus) and create an endless supply of bills/banknotes out of thin air simply by printing them. That's how they exert control over you. Therefore, it makes sense to have acces
Besides, don't think of banks...THINK - Electronic transfer of your funds. Is there another way to do it? OF COURSE....BITCOINS. Does it even make sense that we should allow someone else to charge us $10 to transfer OUR money? Think about that.
Anything that steers clear of government control is decentralized and unregulated. I support Anonymous and a Meritocracy. Anything to do with our current government is a SCAM. ^_~ I am taking you to the other side.
It's a bit too early to start using bitcoins instead of banking transactions. However, the user base is growing and in the not-too-distant future it could happen. Apps for smart phone users have been developed for bitcoins. Many online and offline merchants are already accepting bitcoins, so the day is not far when this virtual P2P currency will replace fiat.

Virtual "currencies" are a scam. They are not backed by anything at all, so their claims to being "decentralized" and "unregulated" are just as false as their use of the term "currency." It's just a socialist scam to further break the world's economies.

Bitcoin is for pyramid schemes and gambling, predominantly. I'd use bitcoin solely for this reasoning.
