I totally agree with Steve and Michael, but would like to add that before you get folks to opt in, you should have your follow-up emails loaded into the autoresponder campaign...
Here's what I'd do. Find a service or software that will allow you to import and blast an email. Even if it's only a few thousand a day. They are out there because I run across them from time to time. Just do some google searching.
Now craft an email with a great Subject that will get them to open, and then click through. I often swipe subject lines and emails from others in my industry that are successful and who's list I'm on. I use these as templates to craft my email around.
I created a contact group in my e-mail address book and then send the group an invitation with a free offer incentivizing them to opt-in to my autoresponder list. I am able to build the relationship, manually until they opt-in to my list. I remove those that request me not to mail them anymore.

After gaining trust share your first product (affiliate link) and closely watch response and gather more information regarding buyers(who are willing to buy) and after a while share 2nd product which must be near to their likes. This way you will have some good results.
