There are two ways you can make your website mobile friendly:
1. Use a responsive template or theme (for HTML or Wordpress sites respectively). Reponsive templates and themes "respond" the screen size of the user's device and display the webpages accordingly.

2. Create a separate mobile site in a folder or subfolder and paste a snippet of code in the head section of your "regular" web page(s). This snippet of code will detect the screen size of the visitor and automatically redirect him to the

NO, Couple of my sites is not mobile friendly, but Google still index all my websites pages. Mobile friendly is for the mobile users, who come to your sites through mobile. That way Google give more important to mobile friendly sites.

That doesn't occur to me since I don't use WordPress much anymore. Too vulnerable to hackers and bogs down servers.

The ones I care about search engine results are, it would be silly to ignore it. When the new policy was first adapted the site I have for my oldbuddy user name was #1, then it dropped until I converted it to mobile friendly, now it's back at the top. Same for Bing and Yahoo too.

Yes, most all of them.
Need to adjust some older sites. But they are not active at this time anyway. Still generating good traffic for their niches
