What makes a good logo?
Every business owner should understand the criteria behind a good logo, as it will have a great impact on their business success. Something that can help you have a better understanding of what it takes to create a good logo is taking a look at the logos of other successful companies. To make it easier, we have narrowed it down into 3 general rules.
Rule 1: Appropriate in Style and Feel
A good logo should follow the brand of the business it belongs to. For example, if your business is related to sports and training, your logo should be strong and bold so it can match the feel of your brand. If, on the other hand, you are working in the jewelry industry, your brand will probably be more high end and luxurious, and so your logo should represent just that! Making sure that your logo matches your brand will help you have a better and more natural connection with your audience.
Rule 2: Distinctive and Memorable
If you want your logo to be unique and gain recognition, you need to really think outside of the box. Let’s say you’re in the landscaping industry: using the image of a tree as your logo will hardly make you stand out from other landscaping companies, and you can’t really own the image it anyway because it’s so generic. If you really want to achieve this step, you need to create something different.
Rule 3: Keep it Simple
Sometimes, less is more, and this applies to logos as well. Simplicity is key for a good logo design. Relying on color, shading, or gradients might be what’s trending now, but it is not a good idea as it can take away from the usability of the logo. A good logo should be legible and be able to stand on its own. If your logo is simple, it will be more likely to last the test of time, which will help with the longevity of your business as well.
