What Is Falabella Horses
One of the smallest breed of horses that weigh almost like a large dog, Falabella horses also happen to be one of the most desirable pets around the world who need to be taken care of in a specific manner.
They are very intelligent, trainable and extremely docile. Falabella horses are available for sale throughout the world as they are such amazing pets.
These adorable species have some prescribed ways in which they are to be groomed and kept and some of those are mentioned as follows:
Taking care of the Fur
The fur of these horses should be regularly brushed. During the winters, the fur should be brushed atleast once a week to enable good blood circulation and maintain its shine and colour. The maintainence of the fur isn’t confined only to brushing but it should also be washed and shampooed as need be. Falabella horses love water and thus cherish a good bath.
Nutritional needs
A Falabella horse needs fodder two times a day usually but in case of a pregnant mare and young foals, the fodder given should be more, for the maintenance of health of the former and the development of bones and muscles of the latter. Even during the course of Winter, the fodder provided to the horses should be more while during the Summers less food is needed for them.
Care of the stable
The stable of a Falabella horse should be very hygienic and well kept. Even though, they are immune to catching fleas they still can be exposed to bacterial infections if the meadow isn't kept clean and well. Provisions should be made to have water available to the horse at all times. It doesn’t need the same amount of space as the normal sized horses but still the stable should be decently spacious for the Falabella horse.
Health
A Falabella horse doesn't grow very fat or thin but if the either is observed then it is something to worry about. Especially during the course of winter they can disguise being underweight by growing a thick fur coat. With regular 'hands-on' contact, it is quite possible to maintain the health and take care of the horse easily and effectively.
Emotional needs
Every animal has emotional needs and need a lot of love, care and support to be happy. Our docile and sweet Falabella horse is no different, as it needs a lot of special care, attention and love from the people around them. At no point should they be mistreated and even when to be trained, the person responsible shouldn’t be very harsh or strict while doing the same.
Vaccination
Vaccination is very imperative, when it comes to Falabella horses. In order to prevent any disease or infection, the foal is given a tetanus injection within the initial 10 days since its birth. Younger foals after which get a vaccine against influenza and tetanus and the dose is repeated after six weeks of the vaccination. These vaccinations are given within three to six months after the birth of the foal.
