You surely are sick of those ugly red bumps appearing on your skin every now and then. Most of the people get acne in their teens when their hormonal levels raise due to puberty. Due to these hormonal imbalances, pores on your face produce greater amounts of sebum that results in skin inflammation.

When these oil residues get mixed with the dead skin cells, they clog the pores and you get pimples in result. When this mixer comes in contact with the nearby skin tissues, it causes redness, pus and swelling. The most sebaceous areas of skin are your face, chest, neck, shoulders and back. Hair follicles on these areas get clogged with oil and dead skin cells, causing acne.

There are different types of acne. They differ in terms of shape, colour and pain level. Following are the most common kinds of acne:

·         Whiteheads: These are small in size and remain underneath the skin.

·         Blackheads: They appear on the upper surface of the skin, are black in colour and can be quite visible.

·         Cysts: These are often responsible for leaving scars. They are filled with pus and are clearly visible over the skin.

·         Pustules: These are commonly known for the pus. They are visible and are red in colour.

·         Nobules: These are embedded in the skin quite deeply. They are usually hard, large and very painful.

Only teens are not the ones who get acne. Sometimes, infants also have acne because they get acne-producing hormones from their mothers, right before the delivery. It can also be caused by the triggering of hormones in new-born’s body because of the physical stress they go through during the delivery. Acne is common in children and adults as well.

There are certain medicines that also contribute in acne formation. Lithium and Corticosteroids are commonly blamed for causing pimples. Therefore, always consult a doctor before taking any medicines. Moreover, acne is also linked with some endocrine related medical complications such as Cushing’s syndrome and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in women often leads to acne breakouts.

There can be several factors that trigger acne but androgens are considered as the main culprits. Androgen is a hormone and its levels rise as soon as the beginning of adolescence period. These hormones facilitate increased growth of oil glands under the skin which produces excessive amounts of sebum that cause bacteria by breaking down the cellular walls of the pores.

Other factors include stress, menstruation, genetic inheritance and excessive usage of greasy cosmetics. There are certain factors that can worsen the existing acne. These factors include:

·         Excessive androgens resulting in cases of puberty, pregnancy and usage of oral contraceptives.

·         Intake of some specific medications.

·         Increased stress levels.

·         Inappropriate diet can also trigger acne. Excessive intake of carbohydrates such as chips, bread and bagels can aggravate the acne. Chocolates are also responsible for acne formation.

It is important to use certain products to reduce acne as much as possible.Acne Serum by Malibu C is one of the most effective skin care product available for controlling and reducing acne formation.
