What Can A Hypnotherapist Do For You?
If you're unfamiliar with
hypnotherapists, likely, you don't know much about them. It's quite likely that
your only exposure to them has been through movies and TV. Like most things,
Hollywood has given a poor and not very accurate representation of the
profession. Most people associate hypnosis with mind control and
that's the furthest thing from the truth as it could be. They don't practice
mind control and saying that they do is akin to saying that they control the
weather to make people happier. It's just a fantasy. The fact of the matter is
that a hypnotherapist is here to help you and there are quite a few things they
can be quite helpful with.
That's what we're going
to be going over from here. We'll be discussing some of the ways that they'll
be able to help you and what problems they're often called on to help solve.
You might be surprised in some of the things they're called on to help with.
The first bit of
housecleaning we have to do before diving in that not everyone can be
hypnotized. There is a certain set of circumstances that have to be met with
someone that is seeking hypnotism so that the process can work. There is a
large portion of the population that can't be hypnotized at all. The rest work
on a sliding scale, there's no way to know where on the scale you fall until
you try it for yourself. Also, remember when you try it that you have to want
it to work. If you're resistant then it most likely will affect you.
One of the most common
ways that a hypnotherapist will help someone is to help them deal with bad or
annoying habits. Some people find certain habits impossible to break. This can
be true of something as innocuous as biting your nails or as harmful as
smoking. Hypnosis is a pretty common way
that these people seek help in breaking these habits and there's some solid
anecdotal evidence for its effectiveness. Many people have saught this type of
help and found what they were seeking. They've broken these habits and now live
their lives without the want to engage in these activities. Some though haven't
had the same results. It varies from person to person and there's no way to
know until you try.
The other way they can
help you id dealing with repressed trauma. Sometimes as a coping mechanism we
can bury some of those hurts that we would rather not focus on or think about. Hypnotherapy can help bring them to
the surface so that we can deal with them in a healthy and constructive manner.
That way we can move past our issues and sort out how they've affected our
lives and those around us.
There are all manner of
ways a hypnotherapist can help you if you can
be hypnotized. There's no way to be sure if it's the right move for you without
sitting down and talking to them about it. If you're seeking help it can be a
good place to look, especially if you've exhausted other options.
