For installing wall tiles and to make sure that they perform to your expectations, you will need to choose the tile adhesive based on where you are working.

If you are installing wall tiles on bathroom and laundry walls, you should pick an adhesion material that is water and moisture resistant. It should be able to prevent and withhold excess moisture conditions.

Similarly, the tile adhesive being used for kitchen walls and backsplash should be waterproof, fireproof, and heat resistant. At the same time, the tile adhesive should be anti-fungus and bacteria resistant, as fungus and bacteria are allergens that might affect the hygiene standards in your kitchen.

Understand Your Tile Material –

The adhesive should be compatible for the tile you are working with.

Say you are installing glass tiles or glass mosaic tiles on your walls.  Using thin set mortar – the most common mortar or tile adhesive for most tiles – would not be a smart decision. That is mainly because glass tiles are transparent or translucent and the color of mortar might overshadow the look of your expensive glass tiles.
