Thy Annual Escapade Shall Comes to A Close
Being
a travel and lifestyle blogger has given me the opportunity to not only cross
borders but also learn about other cultures. It broadens my knowledge about how
people live their lives through carefully watching seemingly mundane things:
like just looking at a country’s architectural influence, listening to its folk
music, observing how its locals converse on a daily basis, how they season
their food, scrutinizing women’s dresses for work, among other things. This
year, I resided into densely populated but dynamic cities and places in Asia
namely Tokyo, Malang, and Marina Bay (in that particular order) and areas near
them—and I have come to realize that even with the apparent and expected
diversity, there are tiny and almost unobservable details that can be very similar among Asian nations.
For
instance, while city-dwellers of Japan tend to lean on a very eclectic fashion,
Indonesians can also be very adventurous with their daily office apparel as
they mix it up with bold hues of make-up. The very same remark I can say for
career ladies I saw in Bukit Timah who can really carry those 5-inch heels with
nonchalance, as if they were just light flats, and go amazingly fab with the
typical office wear for women in Singapore.
And don’t get me started with the food. All three cities can be a haven for
wandering foodies. I enjoyed the Nasi Lemak Chicken near the Chinatown in SG
while I had a very exotic experience eating street delicacies in Jakarta, and a
very heart-warming ramen sampling in Nagoya. All three countries inhabit
rice-eating folks and that is something very new to a European like me. Growing
up in Dublin, my carbs consumption mainly consisted of different meals with
potatoes, and we rarely cook meals with rice.
My
trip to SG was notably special because I met a fellow drifter and blogger
Kendall who hailed from Amsterdam. She has lived in Singapore for 5 years now,
and she also owns a small tea store near Marina. We shared a lot of things and
she noticed that I love being all dolled up even on supposedly lax days so she
suggested I visit this site that also happen to be known not only the best
online shopping office wear in Singapore but also a great place to find cheap
but chic accessories that go with any clothing ensemble of girls.
Just
saddened that the trip had to be cut short because I have to report back the
office next week as I will cover and write about a Spring Collection made by fashion
designers from countryside near Paris. As soon as I land to Ireland, I only
have a few days to prepare and I need to head to France. But I am hoping I can still go back to some
parts of Asia as I am yet to experience more of the Eastern ways. I wish I had
more time to visit more temples and age-old castles, and I am hoping to go to
Beijing, China, Penang, Malaysia, Hanoi, Vietnam, and even open cities like
Dubai and Qatar on my next visit. I heard, too, that Taipei’s food can really
be scrumptious. No doubt, Asia now holds a special part in my hallow heart.
