The Sardas: Where Leadership is the Family Norm
The Sarda family has been instrumental in India’s jute manufacturing industry’s success. And one can say that all the credit goes to one man – Mr. Ghanshyam Sarda.
Jute mill
After graduation, Mr. Ghanshyam Sarda worked on the family jute business. It was dying a slow, painful death. The industry's fate turned around when Mr. Sarda managed to revive it with his inherent leadership skills. Employees, investors, and others involved in the jute sector all lost money. Mr. Ghanshyam Sarda gathered all his strength and saved the underpowered jute mills from the ruins of the dying business. Since then, there has been just growth. Over the years, Mr. Sarda has managed to expand the group into numerous different industries.
Seafood plant
There was no stopping him when it came to expansion. After successfully saving the jute mills, he acquired the seafood processing plant in West Bengal. Earlier under the government of West Bengal, the plant had been out of work for a little while. Presently with EU registration and HACCP certification from the US Food & Drug Administration, this unit has turned a new leaf. It is now the largest seafood processor in West Bengal.
