The Property Management Systems you should use with your Vacation Rentals.

Unfortunately, we had to part ways with Freetobook because they stopped using PayPal for payments. Stripe required us to use a Mexican bank for our property, and that came with a hefty 22% tax on deposits, which we had to pay at the end of each month. If a guest canceled after the month they paid, the government didn’t allow us to deduct that tax, so we’d lose that 22%.
We chose Beds24.com, the closest to Freetobook regarding price and features and still used Paypal as a payment system. We needed TripConnect and Google Hotel ads (not vacation rentals), and Beds24 fit the bill. They also have a handy 2-way iCal with VRBO and tons of integrations. We might only use a few apps and integrations (like sending email addresses to MailChimp and automatically putting bookings into our Google Calendar), but the options are excellent.
The bottom line is that we would have stayed with Freetobook if it weren’t for the PayPal issue. That 22% tax rate was too much; we didn’t want to pass that cost on to our guests. We LOVE all the Scots at Freetobook and still have beautiful things to say about them!
