Tai Chi Is Best Of Form Martial Arts That Help People To Relate Themselves To Nature
Tai chi is a Chinese form art that has healthy benefits along with defense training. It helps in self development.
Tai chi is an abbreviated form of taiji which means supreme ultimate boxing. It is an internal martial art form which is practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. It was originally considered as a martial arts but it is also practiced for other personal reasons. Tai chi in San Jose is practiced for medical benefits as it is an old Chinese medicine of keeping oneself away from any kind of illness. This is not controlled by any central organization or federation so there is no standard belt ranking system.
This form of art is quite liberating and allows a high degree of flexibility and expression. It’s an art of self-development which grew out of Taoist philosophy in china. One of the oldest philosophies of china is Taoism and it formed the earliest foundation of its culture, folk religions, food, art and sciences. It understands and works with the pattern of nature. Well, it doesn’t require any man-made federation to control it but recently some standardization has occurred in china. This has been especially occurred for the tournament practice of tai chi and teaching of qigong which is a modern endeavor, only observed under the current communist regime.
However few schools practice the belt tradition to give joy to the student for successfully accomplishing the different stages of Tai chi arts .Actually, the belt tradition is followed by the Korean and Japanese form of martial arts but Chinese style doesn’t follow this tradition. The Chinese style follows satin sash which is called as Yao Dai. This satin sash is wider, longer, lighter and more flexible.
Most of the schools prefer sashes which are not manmade but related to nature; this is because the grass root of tai chi is related to Taoism. And Taoism considers man as a small part of nature and not somebody who tries conquer nature. If one looks at nature carefully then one can notice the progressive organization of colors in a form of rainbow. And this organization of colors is the perfect occurrence of yin and yang i.e. the yin of the rain and the yang of the sun that helps the human kind to view the varying wavelength of light. Hence, it is a better option to be used rather than following belt ranking system.
Sashes ranking system gives a better overview to the children of their progression in this field and also helps the teacher to decide which concept to be followed and at which levels to properly teach a large group of students. It helps the students to relate themselves closely to nature rather than relating to a formal organization. Moreover, if sash is used as a ranking tool then the tai chi teachers can share the good tradition of how to use the sash as a tool for special exercises and martial art purposes.
As tai chi enthusiasts one should continue to embrace the freedom that its philosophy grants instead arguing and fussing on how to standardize the belt ranking system among everyone.
