The street markets of Delhi surpass the modern malls and branded outlets, offering a wide variety of products at low-budget rates. These markets remain inundated by the localities and outsiders in every season. The vivacious ambience and gripping streets make shopping a fun affair in Delhi. Some of these markets are also famous for particular delicacies to savour while searching your favourite stuff. Few of the most preferred shopping destinations in Delhi are:-

 

Connaught Place – Connaught Place, also famous as CP is a classy and most popular market in Delhi. With branded showrooms and luxurious malls flocking the streets of CP, there are also low-cost markets like Janpath and Palika bazar that are favourite spots for youngsters to get stuff that is in vogue and available at affordable rates. Range of shops vary from apparel to jewellery, books to handicrafts, electronic products and more. There are also many restaurants, hotels, multiplexes and nightclubs to hang out.

 

Chandni Chowk – This is the oldest and most crowded market of Delhi with all types of colours in it. Web of sleek streets connecting each other offer a wide variety of things and small markets are segregated on basis of popularity. Katra is famous for fabrics such as cotton, crepe, silk, sarees and dress material. Bhagirath Palace is well known for electronics, medical equipments and medicines. Moti bazaar for shawls and pearls and Tilak Bazar for chemicals. This market is also famous for finger licking goodies and food joints. Some of the recent Bollywood movies were also shot in it's vicinity.

 

Dilli Haat – Dilli Haat is the best known traditional market of Indian villages. It’s ethnic design and thatched roof cottages gives unique rural ambiance. This market, with an elating blend of handicrafts, multi-cuisine food joints and cultural performances have been luring those with an ethnic taste and preference. The handicrafts here are remarkable and includes sandalwood and rosewood carvings, metal and brass ware, camel hide footwear and jewellery made from gems.

 

Sarojini Nagar – Sarojini Nagar is another hyped market where one can get fashionable clothes and accessories at cheaper rates. Many reputed brands are found in abundance which are rejected from export , either because they were in surplus quantity or with slight manufacturing defect. One should not expect trial rooms on the streets. There are many shoe shops and a sweet market with the name of Babu market in close vicinity. This market remains closed on Mondays.

 

Khan Market – Khan market is the place for elite and sophisticated class who are not willing to settle for less. This U shaped market is famous for it's boutiques, upmarket shopping arenas, expensive fashion outlets, book stores and exquisite restaurants. For Attire hunting visit brands like Fabindia or Anokhi and head towards Kama for ayurvedic remedies. For Literature lovers Full Circle Book store and Bahrisons will do the needful. There are also many dainty food joints on the way to eat and drink.

 

 Karol Bagh – Situated in the heart of Delhi and approximately 2 Kms from New Delhi Railway Station, karol Bagh is the most popular and one of the oldest shopping centre.  Many branded showrooms, retail shops and small outlets lining up the streets of the market sell almost anything to everything. The 'Silver Street' is a traditional jewellery lane specializing in retailing Gold and Silver Jewellery. Ajmal Khan market excels in selling inexpensive ready made garments, cotton and embroidered material. A weekly casual village market is organized on Monday of every week when big brands and outlets remain closed, thus Monday is the best time for budget shopping at this place.
