Why current solutions
are vulnerable
Card skimming is widespread, and the existing solutions are
not effective enough to tackle it.
The UK is Europe’s card capital, with the highest number of
victims (134) and the highest losses (£8.8k) per 1000 people fraud, according
to the think tank SMF, who analysed European Central Bank data.
In the US, it’s estimated that 35.4% of all credit card
fraud is related to counterfeit cards.
The image shows how fraudsters place an overlay on top of
the existing security blocking device. The overlay is almost identical in
appearance.
The Physical Blocker solution (pictured above) that most
banks currently use poses a security risk. This is because criminals have
developed their own exact replicas ready to place over them. As a result,
customers and ATM security personnel alike struggle to identify fake ones.
