The India Metal casting foundry industry is in good shape and well established. In the recent World census of Casting, which is done by Modern Castings, USA, India has the rank of the second-largest producer of casting in the world with an estimation of 7.44 million MT of different grades of the aspect of Casting by the International Standards.

The different types of Casting which are generally produced can be non-ferrous, ferrous aluminum alloy, graded cast iron as well as ductile iron and steel for the application in Automobiles, Pumps Compressor & valves, railways, Cement/electrical/textile pipes and fittings, diesel engines and also for other special requests. Although the grey iron castings still constitute a significant share of about 70% in approx from the total of the castings which have been produced.

Approximately there are about more than 4500 units. From that, about 80% of these units can come under the classification as Small Scale units, on top of that 10% each as large and medium units. Almost 500 units have International Quality Accreditation.

The foundries of the large scale are quite modern and are working globally at nearly full capacity. Most of the foundries are using cupolas of the LAM Coke. There is a very much increased awareness of the environment, and many of the foundries are now switching over to aspects like the induction furnaces. Also, some of the units based in Agra are going over to coke fewer cupolas.

The exports of the casting industry are showing quite a healthy trend. Employment in this industry is quite vast. In this industry, the Grey iron is the major product component along with steel, ductile iron, and non-ferrous.

One of the most popular Casting is the sand casting method, and there several sand casting manufacturers. The method of sand casting, which is also known as the sand molded Casting, is a process of metal casting that has been characterized by the use of sand mold as an incremental material in the whole process.

India is one of the significant sand casting manufacturers in the world on the world forum. Molds made from sand are generally cheaper and also sufficiently refractory even when it comes to using in the steel factory.
