Preventive Methods and Treatments for Molluscum Contagiosum
The common skin disease which affects the skin by a virus called poxvirus is known as Molluscum contagiosum. The disease starts by bumps and they spread easily on the skin. When the patient rubs or scratches the bump, then touching other body parts, the disease spreads to the unaffected skin. Through direct skin contact, they can spread from one person to other. Not only by the skin contact, but also by touching the objects, like toys, towel or clothing, that has touched infected skin, the disease can spread.
There will be no symptoms related to this disease like headache, fever or nausea. But there may itch on skin sometimes. This disease affects the adults but is more prevalent in children because they haven’t developed the immune system against the virus.
Prevent the disease from affecting:
This disease can be prevented if you follow certain habits which include avoiding the skin contact with the infected ones, don’t scratch at all. Don’t shave the areas that have bumps as this result in spreading the disease. Never use the items that are used by the infected ones. Wash your hands before and after eating and also after treating the bumps or if you have come in contact with the infected area. These bumps vanish naturally within 6 – 12 months. You can find these bumps on face, hands, neck, arms, and arm cavity. The name of the disease that is Molluscum contagiosum indicates that the virus develops increments which are extended easily by the skin contact. The four types of virus affecting this disease are MCV-1 to MCV-4, in which the virtually predominant one is the MCV-1.
Methods to treat the Molluscum contagiosum:
In order to remove the wounds, medications can be helpful to remove the warts. In the case of occurrence of local infection, applying antiseptic to the touched regions is helpful.
These are the basic treatment methods. There are also surgical methods which help in treating this disease. These surgical methods include cryosurgery. In this method, for freezing and destroying the lesions, liquid nitrogen is used. Children should be taken extra care so that they don’t rub their bumps at any body parts.
