Summary: Chronicles the life and times of Nucky Thompson, the undisputed ruler of Atlantic City, who was equal parts politician and gangster. A bustling little city by the seashore, totally dependent upon money spent by tourists, Atlantic City’s popularity rose in the early 20th century and peaked during Prohibition. The resort’s singular purpose of providing a good time to its visitors - whether lawful or not - demanded a single mentality to rule the town. Success of the local economy was the only ideology, and critics and do-gooders weren’t tolerated. By 1900, a political juggernaut, funded by payoffs from gambling rooms, bars, and brothels, was firmly entrenched. For the next 70 years, Atlantic City was dominated by a partnership comprised of local politicians and racketeers. This unique alliance reached full bloom in the person of Enoch “Nucky” Johnson - the second of three bosses to head the Republican machine that dominated city politics and society.

Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Episode 3 Summary: Season 3 begins on New Year's Eve in 1922, but gangster Gyp Rosetti isn't in a celebratory mood after hearing Nucky's plans to alter his business model. Meanwhile, in Chicago, Irish mobster Dean O'Banion gets on Al Capone's last nerve, and Van Alden hopes for a career boost. Also in Atlantic City: Richard mentors Tommy Darmody, though Gillian keeps a watchful eye on both of them; Margaret tours a new hospital made possible by Nucky's fortune.

Gyp Rosetti gets the highlight in a new clip from "Boardwalk Empire" season 3. Though he has been said to be Nucky's new nemesis, fans won't see a sign of the rivalry in the footage, which is set at a New Year's Eve party. Instead, the new character played by Bobby Cannavale wants to make a business proposition to Nucky in the scene. Gyp, however, seems to be pissed off when Nucky gets called out while he hasn't finished his line. Another clip shows Al Capone threatening a flower shop's owner, who is possibly another gangster. Nelson Van Alden comes in time to pretend as the other gangster's fellow and act as if he's carrying a loaded weapon in his suitcase. The new installment of "Boardwalk Empire" will premiere Sunday, September 16 at 9 P.M. ET on HBO. According to a synopsis of the first episode, Nucky makes a resolution that does not sit well with Gyp Rosetti, a touchy gangster with a thirst for bootleg whiskey, while hosting a New Year's Eve party for 1922-23. To her husband's displeasure, Margaret looks to build on the Thompson endowment at St. Theresa's Hospital. Meanwhile, in the absence of Jimmy and the Commodore, Gillian builds a new business and monitors Richard's mentoring of her "son," Tommy. Boardwalk Empire’ Season 3 ?Premiere in A.C.? Although all of the specifics are not set yet, Caesars Atlantic City will indeed be hosting a free (doors open to the public at 8pm, must be 18 or over) screening of the premiere episode of season three of the HBO original series Boardwalk Empire in the Circus Maximus Theater on Saturday, Sept. 15, 9pm, the night before it airs on HBO. There will be a cash bar and cast members from the show will be on hand to pose for photos and sign autographs, including Anthony Laciura (Eddie Kessler) and Stephen DeRosa (Eddie Cantor). The debut episode of season 3, “Resolution,” will premiere on HBO Sunday, Sept. 16, at 9pm. According to the show’s creator Terry Winter, the 2012 season of the multiple award-winning series, starring Steve Buscemi as Enoch “Nucky” Thompson, and based in Prohibition era Atlantic City — as well as Chicago, New York and Washington, DC — is still being shot, with the season’s final two episodes set to end filming in September. “We are currently shooting episode 11 [and] we are in the process of prepping episode 12, which should start shooting in about a week and that will be it,” Winter told Atlantic City Weekly prior to the Labor Day holiday weekend. “We’ll wrap up at the end of September. So, yeah, we’re coming down the home stretch of season three.” Expect to see several new characters in the incredible first few episodes of the third season.
