May Day Celebrations At VV Mineral

Established in 1989, VV Mineral is a heavy mineral mining industry based out of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, headquartered in Tisaiyanvilai. Besides being India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of garnet, it also manufactures mineral products like Zircon, Rutile and Illmenite, which make it India’s number 1 mining company and number 2 globally.
 
VV Mineral has a team of trusted board of Directors including Mr. S Vaikundarajan, the Chairman and Managing Director, who is a renowned industrialist from Kanyakumari. Mr. S. Jegatheesan, Mr. V. Subramanian and Mr. J Muthurajan are the other Managing Directors of the company. They put their combined efforts to run a fully integrated state-of-the-art mining mineral separation plant in Tamil Nadu.

The managing Director, Mr. J Muthurajan, insists on activities for the employees in order to keep them satisfied in the company and their work. A lot of training programs are conducted for the employees all year round, like team building exercises, recreational tours, motivational and behavioral training. They also have workshops on fire safety and first aid.

V.V. Mineral, India employs around 50,000 workers. In its attempt to boost the morale of the workers and keep them motivated to work in the company, a cricket tournament was organised for the workers of VV Group near its establishment, VV Titanium Pigments at NPR ground, Siva Nagar, Meelavittan Road, Tuticorin district in which four teams of VVTi employees namely Titanium, Hafnium, Zirconium & Rutherfodium participated on Thursday, 1st May.

It was attended by local audiences from nearby areas especially school children who gathered in large numbers to witness the cricket match. The final match played between Hafnium & Rutherfodium, after which a function was organised at their factory premises.

Mr. V. Subramanian, Director – V. V. Group of Companies, delivering May Day message said, “On May Day, we pledge ourselves to create a healthier environment for all our workers and community in a sustained manner. We are committed to the cause of fighting child labour and optimise the productivity of our employees by leveraging best HR practices as a socially responsible company.”

In his welcome speech, Mr. M Palanisamy, AGM, P&M commended the work efforts of all employees of VV Mineral. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Appavu Samraj, Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories, Tuticorin. He distributed prizes to the Winners, Runners -Up, Man of Match and Man of the Series.

He also gave out prizes and certificates to those employees who had demonstrated extraordinary efforts at the workplace and for accomplishing highest productivity at work.

Mr. M Balaji, DGM, Projects gave vote of thanks to all the participants and the event culminated after the National Anthem.
