In the current circumstances when the whole world is limiting the number of immigrants intake, Canada stands as a significant exception which has been regularly inviting foreign nationals to become permanent residents of the country in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

As you might know, Canada has a total of 3 territories and 10 provinces. Canada has a federal government-run Express Entry program while the provinces also run their individual immigration programs, known as provincial nominee program (PNP).

All these PNPs have their unique eligibility criteria and points assessment grid. However, the things similar between Express Entry and PNP are the eligibility factors considered for candidates, such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, etc.

One important thing to note about a PNP is – a PNP nomination doesn’t directly mean Canada PR. What exactly it does is – a province by giving you provincial nomination, recommends you to the federal government to be issued Canada PR.

How that works is – as you would know, the Canadian government decides whether or not to grant Canada PR visa basis a candidate’s comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score. The higher a candidate’s CRS score, the greater their chances of being invited to apply for Canada PR visa.

If a province awards you provincial nomination, with that you earn 600 CRS points, and that is more than enough to guarantee you an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada PR.

How does PNP help?

As you probably know, the Express Entry is the first and foremost choice for seeking Canada PR. However, there are certain eligibility criteria for Express Entry that not all candidates meet. For example, Express Entry requires all candidates to have a minimum one year of skilled work experience, not everybody has work experience. Instead, many applicants are freshers who seek Canada PR right after completing their college education.

For such candidates, PNP comes as a rescue because certain PNPs allow candidates to seek nomination without any work experience.

Other examples of PNP indirectly helping people secure Canada PR is by awarding nomination to candidates with a low language proficiency score, relaxing age and education criteria, etc.

Thus, you can see that provincial nominee program is a boon for those who in one or the other way find it difficult to secure Canada PNP directly through the popular Express Entry program.

There are plenty of PNPs that you can choose from for your Canada PR and live a high quality of life in a developed country like Canada. Apart from that, you will also get an opportunity to study at world’s top class educational institutions.
