There was a time, years ago, that our cities were surrounded by greenery and fresh air. The weather was so cool that there was no scarcity of water or any water logging problem. But now everything has changed. It has now become difficult for home buyers to find suitable homes across the country due to the problems of drought and pollution. Even the developed area of Delhi-NCR does not provide any guarantee that it will remain habitable in coming future.

Some of the famous cities like Bangalore, Ranchi, Mumbai and Pune are now facing the problems of water logging during monsoons. But their construction activities can overcome these problems and prevent their properties from climatic disaster and change. Recently, The Millennium City Gurgaon has faced this problem during the monsoon, as there was no availability of drainage system and sewer line.

So, if you are planning to buy property in Gurgaon or already reside in this city then you should follow these precautions and protect your home during monsoon:

Gutters at the top

Placing the gutters at the top ensures that your home is always prepared to cope with the heavy rainfall to clear gutters of leaves and stems that may add throughout the year. It will also debris the water flow to the drains and overflowing.

Cross-check sealant

If your home is in an area that is inclined to heavy rains then make sure that those holes of doors and windows be filled with the sealant. This will help to stops rain from coming inside and with regular usage. It will reduce the impact of sealant erosion.

Be careful about the electricity

Due to heavy rainfall, there are chances of electric shocks or fuse that may happen for that we have to make sure that all electrical appliances stored at upstairs, where water is unlikely to reach them. As we all are aware that water and electricity are not a good combination thus it is important that you make sure that all sockets are covered and turn off.

Air vent should be covered

Air vents are one of the easiest ways through which water can easily find its way into the house. So, if you have a strong intuition for heavy rains then you must cover your air vents from both sides with thick plastic sheets.

Protect Wooden Furniture

An excessive amount of water can damage the wooden floor, door and other furniture of homes. Apply coating on wooden furniture as this will prevent moisture and increase the life of the wooden furniture. These points will help you to prevent home from this monsoon. So, go ahead and give your home the much needed safety and care from water logging and other chaos created by monsoons.
