India is in South Asia. The large country has a diverse geography and has over 22 official languages. India's economy has emerged as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. According to Customs Export Data, India ships 7500 products to 190 countries around the world.
 
As per Export Data India, India shipped 290.63 billion USD worth of commodities in 2020-21. Exports contracted by 7.26% from the previous financial year when India exported goods worth 322.8 billion USD. If we study the trends for 2020-21 the highest exports were recorded for 34.5 billion USD and the lowest exports were recorded in April of 10.36 billion USD. 
 
Customs Export Data shows India’s top exported commodities are:-
  • Pearls, precious and semi-precious stones, and jewelry (16% of total exports)
  • Mineral fuels, oils and waxes, and bituminous substances (12% of total exports)
  • Vehicles and vehicular spare parts (5% of total exports) 
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery (5% of total exports ) 
  • Pharmaceutical products (5% of total exports)
 
In 2020-21 pharmaceutical exports grew by 18.7% to 24.44 billion USD. There was a surge in demand for Indian generic drugs because of their volume and affordability. The exports of Indian textile and apparel saw growth in North American markets. The exports saw seeds, beans, cereals, and flour in African and Gulf nations. Exports of metals also increased.
 
India Export Data Country Wise shows that India’s top export partners are:-
  • United States of America (15% of total exports) – the total exports between India and the US was 51.1 billion USD. The top exports jewelry, pharmaceutical products, and nuclear reactors, boilers, and machinery. 
  • United Arab Emirates (11% of total exports) - the top exports from India are precious metal, refined petroleum and other mineral products, machinery and electrical equipment, and chemical products.
  • Hong Kong (5% of total exports) – the main exports between India and Hong Kong are pearls, precious and semi-precious stones and jewelry, mineral fuel, electrical machinery, and leather. 
  • China (4% of total exports)- the total exports between India and China was 19 billion USD. The top exports from India shipment of ores, iron, and steel, aluminum, and copper. 
  • Singapore (4% of total exports) – the chief exports between India and Singapore are consumer goods, electrical equipment, and vehicles.
