Creating a story or poem which has nothing in common with the literature previously published seems impossible to the students. For winning a creative writing competition you have to spruce up your writing skills. While refining your art takes time and guidance from a literary expert, knowing some quick tips can increase your chances of delivering your best work.

Even if you scored fewer marks in English Kota University Result 2019, the below seven tips will help you win creative writing competition at your college -

1. Unexpected Beginning - Most of the amateur writers begin their creative piece with the surrounding. Weather is the first thing that strikes their mind. More than half of the submissions the judges receive begins with weather. It isn’t the only way to start your story! To stand out you must think differently, go for people and conflicts. These are the two things the readers look forward too. There is an exception to this tip: if your story is about a person who is stuck in a natural disaster or fighting for survival on a no man's land, an opening with the weather will work. There are no hard and fast rules here, as it’s not going to affect your Kota University Result 2019!

2. Cross first paragraph out - Though you might not notice the first few paragraphs is just warming up. The story is complete even without the details you added in the first few paragraphs. No reader wants to go through the vague details of what’s happening around the characters. Unveil the real plot without any vague description.

3. Horror fiction - Spooky stories are easy to make-up, but whatever storyline you will create might already exist. Horror stories are the most common form of fiction received in writing competition. You can shape all your fears to form a convincing ghost. The narration is perfect but towards the end, the plot flops. Satisfying the reader with a mind blowing ending requires a maze of twists and turns and connecting the dots. Giving a logical explanation of all major events that took place is excruciating. Unless you have a flair for horror fiction, trying your hand on another realm of literature is a better idea. The Rajasthan University Result 2019 was released only a few weeks ago. It is the best time to build your writing muscles.

4. A Protagonist no one has heard of - It is the test of imagination skills and creativity. A huge number of students look up to a superhero or their favourite celebrity for daily inspiration. However, you must remember in a creative writing competition fan-fiction wouldn’t appeal to the judges. Creating a character from scratch is challenging. Don’t look on the outside for inspiration, look within yourself. You will find the key to a completely new world. Moulding a fictional character or a popular celebrity is lazy work. The writer doesn’t use 100% of his imagination as the qualities and traits have been already defined.

5. Simpler Vocabulary - You might be tempted to show off the highly sophisticated vocabulary you possess. The point is - a judge isn’t going to give you extra marks for the flowery words. Short words are easier to digest. Don’t confuse the reader with your jargon. Your writing should be coherent, concise and constant. Try minimizing adjectives and adverbs to increase the readability of your text. If you passed with flying colours in your English Rajasthan University Result 2019, it doesn’t mean you should proof it in your creative endeavours.

6. Unfinished Stories - Don’t have the creative energy to end the story? Discontinue your writing for a while and return back but complete your draft. The judge wouldn’t wait for you to write the part-2.  Often the students give an ambiguous ending with dots ( . . . .). Not having a conclusion is the most frustrating part for the readers, even the judges.

7. Don’t write in your college’s premises - Students who are eager to weave a story or don’t have the time to write often participate to write more. Due to lack of time, you might write sitting in the library or the classrooms. Amid the students, books and the teachers, you would come up with a masterpiece but a coming of age story. Write your fiction somewhere your thought wouldn’t be influenced by the surroundings.
