How to Get a US Visitor Visa?
People from abroad who wish to enter the United States must obtain an American Visitor Visa that is placed in the individual's passport. A visa does not guarantee entry to the U.S. Rather, it determines the person's eligibility for entry to the United States. The Homeland Security Department (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will then decide whether or not individuals with U.S. Visas will be allowed to enter the U.S.
There are two types of visitor visas which are classified into Immigrant Visa and Non-immigrant visa.
Immigrant visas are used by people who want to travel to live in the United States permanently. Non-immigrant visas are issued for persons wishing to travel temporarily to the United States (business or pleasure)
US Visitors:
The US Visitors who wish to enter the US on a temporary stay need non – immigrant visas for business, pleasure or medical treatment. US Visitor Visa includes a large portion of temporary travelers to the United States each year.
If an individual seeks to enter the United States for company operations such as conferences, meetings, consultations and contract negotiation, he/she may apply for a B1 visa. The consular officer will decide on the form of visa for the person based on the purpose of the travel and on the submission of the supporting papers.
Requirements:
The person needs particular criteria to qualify for the American Visitor Visa. The person must demonstrate that the aim of the journey to the United States is for company, enjoyment or medical therapy and that he/she only plans to stay in the United States for a particular period of time. The individual must also provide proof of funds to cover U.S. expenses, proof of compelling social and economic ties abroad, and that he/she resides outside the U.S. and has other binding ties to ensure that the individual leaves the U.S. at the end of the visit.
Application Process:
In general, a person in the U.S. should apply for American Visitor Visa. Your country's embassy or consulate. Since there are many reviews following the application of U.S. visas, it is essential to apply well in advance of the date of travel exit.
The interview is essential, with few exceptions, for people who applied for US Visas between the ages of 14 and 79. Those people aged 13 and younger and 80 and older do not need an interview unless specifically asked by an embassy or consulate. depending on each US Embassy or Consulate, waiting times for interview appointments and visa processing information will vary. The person then has to pay the fee and submit the supporting papers
Once American Visitor Visa has been approved, the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will then decide whether he/she will be allowed to enter the US and also the length of the stay in Form I 94 (Arrival-Departure Record)
