How to Find & Remove Duplicate Songs from iTunes Library

In this article, I'm going to show you how to remove duplicate songs in your iTunes library. It's super easy. It's just going to take a couple of minutes. Let's try it out. So, fire up iTunes and then, go to the toolbar, click on file. Go to library, and click on show duplicate items. Now, make sure that all is selected over here at the top. And then, you're going to find all of the duplicate songs that you've got over in your iTunes DJ library. Now, it's just a matter of clicking every other track. And making sure that these are duplicates that you want to remove. (electronic music) Alright, so, once you're done picking the songs that you want to remove, just hold down command and delete, or you can also right click. And, choose delete from library.

 Now, I, it's going to ask this, "Are you sure you want "to delete the copies of these selected songs?" Just click on delete songs. And, you're going to get a second dialogue. If you choose keep files, they're going to be removed from your library, but they're still going to be on your hard drive, and we don't want that. We want it to be super, super clean. We don't want any duplicates on our hard drive. So, just click on move to trash. Alright, now, all you need to do is go to your trash, or your bin, and then empty it. (trash empties) That's it, job done. Now, you won't find anymore of those duplicates in your iTunes library. So, that was super quick, super easy, and, it's something that you can do in just like, a couple of minutes, even. You know, after you get home from a gig and you just want to clean up your library, or do a little bit of maintenance every other week, while you are doing your usual chores.
