How to Disable Network and Internet Connection Sharing on Windows?
In order to enable other individuals to access the files you have shared in your Windows computer on the network, you can enable file sharing. However, this feature can also be disabled as and when you need. Just follow the processes given below.
Turn Off Network File Sharing
If you want to turn off network file sharing, you need to follow the steps given below.
- Firstly, you have to click on Window Start logo on your desktop.
- After that, you should go to the search bar.
- Then you should enter “control panel” into the search bar.
- Thereafter, you should click on “Control Panel” from the results.
- Later, you should click on “Network and Sharing Center.”
- Now, you have to click on “Change advanced sharing settings.”
- After that, you should click on the network profile which says, “(current profile).”
- Make sure that you are modifying the sharing settings for the current connection.
- Private – you should use this as your home network.
- Guest or public – If you are linked to public location Wi-Fi, then you have to input a Wi-Fi password to sign in.
- Then you should choose the “Turn off file and printer sharing” option.
- Thereafter, you should click on “Save Changes” to turn off file sharing for the current connection.
- If you want to turn off file sharing for other connection types, then you should click on “Changed advanced sharing settings” once more.
- Later, you should click on other network profile.
- Now, you have to choose “Turn off file and printer sharing.”
- When you are done, you can click on “Save Changes.”
Turn Off Internet Connection Sharing
You can disable internet connection sharing. Here are the instructions given below.
- Firstly, you have to click on the Windows Start logo on your desktop.
- After that, you should go to the Search bar.
- Then you have to enter “control panel.”
- Thereafter, you should click on “Control panel” from the results.
- Later, you have to click on “Network and Sharing Center.”
- Now, you should click on “Change adapter settings “from the left pane.
- After that, you should see your saved network connections.
- Then you have to right click on your current network connection.
- Thereafter, you should click on the “properties” option from the pop-up menu.
- Later, you should click on the “Sharing” option.
- Now, you should untick the box of “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection.”
- After that, you should click on, OK.
