How To Disable McAfee Antivirus on MAC?

Want to disable McAfee internet security on your MAC device, then go through some basic steps described below provided by McAfee Technical Support in order to temporarily disable this security program on MAC. 



  • Firstly, click on the security program’s icon which is located on the top-right side o your Mac’s menu bar.
  • After clicking on the icon, select the Total Protection Console which from the drop-down menu and then click on Home tab located on the upper-left side of the page.
  • Go to a setting which is a gear icon in the top-right corner of the home tab and then click on it.
  • Then select Real-time scanning from the drop-down menu and a pop-up window will appear on the screen on which you have to click on the lock icon and then click on real-time scanning switch in the top-right corner to turn it off.
  • After that, go to the gear icon again and then click on Firewall from the drop-down menu. Then turn it off in the same way as you disabled the real-time scanning.
  • Then again go to settings and click on Automatic updates and then disable it by clicking on the Lock icon and then click on auto-update switch and slide it to the left to turn it off.
  • Then again open settings and select scheduled scanning located at the bottom of the drop-down menu, and then enter the username and password to unlock the Full and a custom scan setting page.
  • Then click on Weekly drop-down box on the far-left side of the page and then select Never from the drop-down menu. This will prevent your antivirus from re-activating itself to scan your system.
  • Then go to settings and select McAfee Site Advisor option to disable it.

Now the security program has been temporarily disabled on your MAC. You can again enable it after completing any installation and performing any job on your MacBook.
