How to change Spark Plugs

Changing spark plugs is a necessity to keep an engine running. It is a car maintenance that must be performed to help prevent any engine failure. Without spark plugs, the engine will not run. There will be no spark to ignite the fuel in the engine chamber. Therefore, there will be no power, and the engine will not turn.

When to change spark plugs?

The spark plug should be changed every 60,000-100,000 miles depending on the manufacturer specification.

The spark plug should also be changed when the engine is no longer running efficiently. Some signs include engine misfire, inefficient engine, poor gas mileage, car running erratic etc…

How to remove spark plugs?

First, you need a 3/8 inch ratchet, spark plug sockets, and a long 3/8extension. First, connect the spark plug sockets onto the extension. Next, connect the spark extension onto the ratchet.

Remove the spark plug wires and remember to mark them according to the cylinder. Use the ratchet with the socket and place it carefully onto the spark plug. Remove the spark plug by going counter clockwise. Carefully to remove it slowly and not break the spark plug in the chamber. It will become costly if this happens as the head needs to be removed. After removing the spark plug check the condition of the spark plug.

How to check the condition of the spark plugs?

Checking the condition of the spark plugs is very important. A spark plug should be clean and free of oil when removed from the engine. There should be no signs of the crack, burned, oiled.
