How Can Contaminants Be Prevented From Entering A Data Server Center?

Setting up a regular server room cleaning program is ultimately the only method to ensure that a data service centre is as free of pollutants as feasible.

Several steps may be taken to reduce the number of impurities.

Hairnets and booties covering shoes are two practical ways to decrease some of the pollutants that enter a data service centre. But there are three main things to do to keep a server centre operational.

Maintain a Cooling System

Maintain a routine of maintenance to keep a cooling system clean. Systems for cooling data centres are required. Even in the finest conditions, servers in a room might become warm.

Cooling systems help prevent equipment from overheating, which could result in unnecessary downtime.

However, cooling systems also have issues of their own. They can also circulate toxins as they move air about the server room. The so-called belt debris is one of the most harmful pollutants.

Belt debris is produced when belts for cooling systems rub against pulleys that are just slightly out of alignment. These bands, if not fixed, may produce thousands of particles per day, most of which would pass by undetected.

Regular server room cleaning stops it. To lessen friction, the pulleys in the cooling system should be frequently inspected and correctly positioned. Low particle belts, which produce fewer particulates during routine use, are also an option.

As part of that routine maintenance program, it's also a good idea to completely turn off the cooling system and give the belt drive unit a good cleaning.

Utilize a vacuum with a HEPA filter and antistatic cleaning agents on a microfiber cloth to clean the device itself. Additionally, regularly replace the air filters for the entire cooling system every three months.

Control Human Behaviour

Dandruff, skin fragments, and hair are only a few examples of the pollutants that humans themselves contribute to the data room. Therefore, it is crucial to control what operators wear within the data server room. This entails donning safety goggles and booties on their shoes.

Installing contamination control mats at the points of access to the data room is another technique to lessen human pollutants. By doing this, we can help clean certain toxins off the shoes.

Additionally, carry out some tasks outside the real data server area. For instance, new equipment will frequently be delivered to data service centres to replace outdated or malfunctioning parts.

It is best to unpack and assemble all of this new hardware away from the data room. By doing this, the likelihood that dust from transportation and pollutants from packaging may enter the data server centre is decreased.

Additionally, bringing cardboard inside the data server centre is never a good idea. Additionally, ensure server room cleaning with antistatic cleaning agents before bringing it in, as well as any instruments that could be required to assemble it.
