The use of Biometrics may have been on the rise in the 21st century, but the origins date back to a several thousand years ago. The first known sampleof finger prints to mankind was taken in the 14th century by a European, Joao de Barros. Later, Chinese merchants used ink to take the finger prints of chidren in China.

The term "Biometrics" is derived from the words "Bio" and "Metrics" which mean "life" and "to measure", respectively. Karl Pearson studied about biometrics at the Universty of London in the 20th Century. Unlike the failed body mechanics method of Alphone Bertillon, Pearson's discoveries got much importance. Not only did Pearson made some significant discoveries in the field of biometrics, but he also applied those discoveries to animal evolution. He developed the signature authentication procedures which were further taken beyond fingerprints by military and security agencies.

Today, Biometrics have made a mark in every place where security and safety is of utmost importance. There are a wide variety of Biometric Devices which ensure optimum protection and provides access to authorised personnel only. Some of those devices are the finger print scanners, signature sensing devices, voice pattern recognition devices, iris recognition, etc.

Other than all the above mentioned devices, there is even a Face recognition device which has although not reached a prevalent level, but has garnered great popularity in different places. The unflinching commitment of Biometric devices manufacturing companies towards keeping the advancement and innovation in this field constant further reassures ZERO harms from potential safety threats and concern over identity and privacy issues.

The field of Biometrics is making remarkable progress and devices are made available at affordable rates so that every one can have optimum security at their commercial and residential places. One can see most of the devices being installed in banks, offices, financial centers, and even homes for different purposes.

If you want to limit access and protect confidential information, you can bank upon Biometrics devices to work as identity authentication solution. The wide assortment of these devices confirms that you can find one easily that suits your purpose.
