Habits to Support Your Mental ToughnessFor most of your life, you might have focused a lot on taking care of your physical fitness - and for a good reason too. Having a good physical condition can prevent various diseases like diabetes and heart disease and can help you maintain a long life. However, in our pursuit of physical fitness, we often neglect taking care of our mental health, which is crucial in developing our abilities to take on challenges and opportunities that are sometimes placed before us.

To better understand the value of having a strong mindset, we can take guidance from professionals who have devoted their lives to developing mental toughness - a prime example being none other than Chris Harris.

Aside from being a highly acclaimed American motivational speaker, Chris Harris is also known for his extraordinary work as a sales performance trainer and providing executive consulting for the additive manufacturing industry. He is also a close-quarters combat expert, patented inventor, published author, and a United States military veteran. Throughout his career, he has established many fine institutions, a few that include Motivational Pros and Roku Jutsu Combatives.

A major contributing factor to Harris's understanding regarding the value of mental strength is his lifelong martial arts journey that he began as a child. In 1993 he created Roku Jutsu, which is an elite system of close-quarters combat specifically designed for training private security firms, federal agencies, special forces, and the military. For 25 years he has provided his personal brand of elite combatives training all over the world.

In 2015, he transitioned from close-quarters combat training into additive manufacturing technology sales, where he managed to achieve a high level of success in just a few short years. Subsequently, he wrote the book, "Phase Selling for Additive Manufacturing," which focuses on the sales methodology he created and utilized to achieve his ambitious sales goals.

Naturally, it was not easy for him to reach the top tier of sales professionals in this highly competitive industry, and on many occasions, he had his mental toughness tested. But the absence of mental strength would have made things far more difficult for him. Hence, he has always emphasized the importance of creating healthy habits, which include:

Focusing on One Task

Even though multitasking can be highly beneficial, relying on it too much can be quite unhealthy for you. Focus on the present - take in all that is happening before you and indulge in the moment. Taking baby steps is a great way to not only help your mind mature but also to appreciate your surroundings more effectively.

Moving Your Body

One of the best things we can do to improve our mental fitness is to equally prioritize our physical fitness. Now, most of you would think that this comes in physical fitness. For example, staying physically active is an excellent way to refresh your mental well-being since it increases your dopamine and serotonin levels. As a result, this helps to improve and balance your neurotransmitter levels that ultimately bring about a positive effect on your overall mental health.
