Gums are the tissue that supports your teeth. Gum disease occurs when the tissue becomes infected and is one of the leading causes of tooth loss. Plaque commonly called a periodontal disease; is the primary cause of gum disease. Therefore, a regular dental checkup is essential to protect your teeth from gum disease. If you experience bleeding, swollen gums, bad breath, and lose teeth, then you may have signs of gum disease. There are the following factors that cause gum recession.

1.     Aggressive Tooth Brushing

2.     Insufficient Dental Care

3.     Tobacco

4.     Teeth Grinding and Clenching

5.     Misaligned or Crooked Teeth or Bite

How is Gum Treated?

At Bridges Dental, we provide various services to care for your mouth.

Brandon Dentist treats gum recession by deep cleaning the affected area. The plaque that has built up on the teeth and the root are carefully removed. The exposed tooth area is smothered to make it difficult for bacteria to attack. The remaining harmful bacteria are removed with the use of antibiotics.

If deep cleaning cannot be used to treat gums, then gum surgery is required.
