Types of Printers Available in the Markets

Different printers have different capabilities and printing technologies that suit different situations. It's always important to choose the right printer, as the readability of the barcode tags/stickers is based on the quality of the print and the type of printer used.
There are 4 types of the printers: Dot Matrix, Inkjet, Laser, and Thermal.

Dot Matrix

One of the long-standing methods of producing barcodes onsite is Dot matrix print technology. Here, hundreds of dots printed in a matrix to make the series of lines and spaces commonly produce the barcode. These are relatively slow and also print low-quality stickers, which has very low readability.

Ink Jet and Laser

Barcode stickers that get printed as images are printed by the laser and the inkjet printers. This is a time-consuming process, also utilizes more memory. These types of printers are capable of printing an entire sheet of labels rather than a single piece and have excellent print quality.

Thermal

Thermal printing includes Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer.

One of the older technologies designed for use with copier and fax machines that utilize chemically coated paper called direct thermal printing. There are Thermal Transfer printers that run on the same technology as direct thermal printers, but instead of chemically coated paper, it utilizes a non-sensitized face stock and a special, inked ribbon. It is quite efficient and capable of printing barcodes with different sizes and different density.

Benefits

With saving money, one can improve the process with easy item identification and localization for inventory, retail, sales, distribution or point of sale. It improves accuracy with increasing readability. As those are user-friendly, also improves the tracking process.
