QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise allows you to work on desktop and it is very easy to use it. QuickBooks has both clouds as well as on premises and it has several variations including Enterprise, Accountant, Pro, and Premier. QuickBooks is basically used by small businesses to run their payroll.


QuickBooks Advanced Reporting (QBAR) lets you use your QuickBooks data to create interactive reports and gain better insights into your business. This feature will be included in your Full-Service Plan and works with QuickBooks Enterprise 2014 R6 and higher. It is so easy to use it saves your time as well as money. With QuickBooks Full Service Payroll you can get your payroll done by QuickBooks.

How to get started with QBAR

Only an Admin user on the Windows system can run the QBAR installation.

  1. Login your Windows as the Admin user.

  2. Update your QuickBooks Enterprise to the latest release.

    1. Go to the Update section to the Latest Release web page.

    2. Make sure your product is selected.  If it is not, click the Change link and select QuickBooks Enterprise and the version you use.

    3. Select and follow the instructions which are instructed for the update options:

      • Click the Update to download the update file.

      • Click Setup Automatic Updates to learn how to set QuickBooks to automatically download and install the latest updates.

      • Sync up your license data online.

      • In the  QuickBooks Help menu

      • Select the option Manage My License and then fetch your Data License Online.

      • Start the installation and extract the data for the reports.

      • In the Reports menu, click on Advanced Reporting.

Note: When trying to update Advanced Reporting with the latest data from your QuickBooks company file, you may receive this error i.e. Sorry! Advanced Reporting couldn't update your report. Please try again.

No need to worry you just need to update QuickBooks to the latest release. If the latest release does not resolve the issue, remove any parentheses, brackets or apostrophes in the company file path or file name by renaming folders or file, then you have to re-open company file and run the Advanced Reporting at that time only.
