The fast-paced world of technology has brought a revolution in human life. And most of the technology that we use in daily life uses some kind of power or energy to run itself. And the most sought energy in the world is Electricity or Current. The biggest gift of science and technology in the modern day is Electricity.

In a matter of clicks, the brightness of the bulb sheds light in the darkness, in the summer turning on the switch of the fan gives us relief from the scorching heat. Everything from tv, A.c, smartphone, laptop, giant pieces of machinery in the industries etc. everywhere the significance of electricity cannot be ignored.
But to generate electricity we need some machines. Thanks to another branch of science, Mechanical Engineering. With the help of technology and Mechanical Engineering, we can build machines that help us to generate electricity. Both the branch Electrical and Mechanical works vice-versa.

Gears and motors are the best gifts of technology which has uplifted the human living standard to greater heights. And technology has helped gears and manufacturers most in comparison to other inventions. In this article, we briefly discussed gears and motors to understand how these two have changed our lives forever.

Understanding The Terminologies Gears And Motors:
A lot of us maybe do not know the use of gears in daily Life. Gears are everywhere if we just pay a little attention to our surroundings. In wristwatches, wall clocks, Cycles, Motorcycles etc, these are the places where gears can be identified easily. 
Whereas motors can be easily distinguished from gears. Motors are generally run by electricity and can be of different shapes and sizes just like gears. Motors are used as a pump in fetching water in houses or water plants, in drill machines, lathe machines in industries, etc. Let us deep dive and know a bit more in detail about gears and motors below.

Gears:
Gear is a circular machine component having cut teeth mainly attached with a rotating shift. To transmit and deliver the rotary motion with torque gear usually operates in pairs. Typically gears are found in circular shapes. Specific gears are shaped according to their needs to transmit motion smoothly and in a specific pattern. 

The shaft that connects with gear must be kept very close and in a proper ratio for proper functioning and induce less friction. Various types of gears are found but of them, a few are vastly used in Industries or daily life.

Some of the examples of gear are Helical Gear, Bevel Gear, Spur Gear, Skew Gear, worm gear etc. Though these gears are named differently their working principle remains the same.

Use Of Gears:
Different gears serve different purposes as worm gear serves in the sector of lifts and elevators, material handling, instruments. Spur gear serves in the making of clocks, pumps, power plants, railways and so on. Bevel gears are broadly used in the aerospace and aircraft sector, automobile and power plants sectors.

Motors:
The main function of an electric motor is to convert the supplied electric energy into mechanical energy. Almost all-electric motors work through the interaction of the motor’s magnetic field and electric current supplied through the internal winding wires. Thus it produces a rotating force informed of the torque to rotate the shaft. 
Copper is considered the best conductor of current with minimum energy loss used for the winding inside the motor. Copper also ensures to protect the motor from other electrical issues as well hence increasing the longevity of the motor. The electric motor can be run by both A.C and D.C current according to their usages. 
Various types of motors are there but primarily few motors are vastly used in different industries. Dc series motor, three-phase synchronous motor, slip ring induction motor etc.

Sometimes we confuse electric motors with generators. Generators work just reversed the working principle of the motors. In the generators mechanical energy converts into electric energy. Hence generators are used to produce electricity. 

Use Of Motors:
Just like the gears, motors also serve mankind. In large industrial machines slip induction motors are used. And in our household appliances,the motor is used in the water pump, A.C, dishwashers, washing machines etc. Cooling fans in computers and printing machines are special types of motors used for precision.

We all Know that gears and motors are behind almost all mechanical and electrical machines. While gears are enormously involved in shaping the mechanical industry and electrical industry. Be it in the engine of vehicles, aeroplanes or big excavators, handwatch, drill clock, bicycle etc. Gear has its significant usage in the daily life of everyone.

And on the other hand, electrical motors also left their mark on our life as well. Dishwasher, washing machine, computer printers, machine tools etc. The best of electrical and mechanical engineering is the invention of the electric motor. Gears and Motors manufacturers give extra attention while manufacturing these components.

It is clear with no doubts in our mind that gears and motors make human life very convenient. Technology has brought out the best out of these two to serve human beings and make our life easier.
