Five things you must NOT do while preparing for JEE Advanced
Preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination is perhaps the toughest time of an aspiring engineer’s life! It really takes everything out of a student to prepare and excel for this insanely competitive examination. Socializing, watching your favourite movies or TV series, playing your favourite games- all comes to a halt when you start crunching the numbers for JEE. Whether it be JEE Main or Advanced, a certain level of diligence is required on the part of the student.

Don’t worry, we’re here to help you get that top score in the Join Entrance Examination! Everyone tells you what to do while preparing for the JEE, so, let us tell you what NOT to do!
Don’t-
Underestimate the importance of having a timetable
Regular studies are most important when it comes to JEE preparation. Putting in 8 hours of work on one day and then slacking off the next day will do you no good when it comes to getting a good score in the JEE. Regular studies for at least four to five hours a day are needed, and the best way to make a routine and stick to it is to make yourself a timetable. Plan out your studies in a systematic manner, and under no circumstances forget to add breaks in between. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, eh?
Refer to too many books on a single topic
Too many cooks spoil the broth, don’t they? Referring to one or two of the best books available on a certain subject or topic is the best way to go about preparing for the JEE. If you’ve joined a coaching centre, for instance, refer to the books they provide you, in addition to one other reputed book per subject. Studying too many books might end up confusing you or providing you with too much irrelevant information.
Go easy on mock tests
Mock tests are the absolute best ways to get to know how much you’ve actually prepared for the examination. Never go easy on giving mock tests, and once you do, check yourself rigorously. This will help you gauge your strengths and weaknesses, and in turn help you plan your studies better by allotting more time for your weak areas. Time limits are also important while giving mock tests. Never give one without a time limit, as that simply defeats the purpose.
Procrastinate
Procrastination is perhaps the worst thing that you can do to your JEE preparation. Don’t worry, once you make it to the dream institute of your choice, there will be plenty of time to sit around and procrastinate! As of now, keep this off of your list. Instead of telling yourself “10 more minutes, then I’ll study”, start 10 minutes early and finish your assignments or work.
Feel the heat
Probably not so sensible including this on the list, but this needs to be put out there. Students taking too much pressure for the JEE suffer great consequences health-wise, which is topmost priority. Keeping your good health intact is more important than any exam you are ever going to appear for, so, take it easy every now and then. Positive mindsets, no worries, and a happy attitude is what is going to get you success in the JEE. Don’t believe it? Try it yourself next time you appear for a mock test!
So, these were the five most dangerous things which can potentially hamper your JEE preparation. Make sure you stay away from them, and watch how good results follow you around!
