Whether it's for you or as a gift, today I'm offering you a tutorial for making a bath bomb. I can already hear you saying to me in the background: what is she talking about? What is a bath bomb?

Before any explanation, I remind you of course that it is more ecological to take showers than baths! A bath uses between 150 and 200 litres of water! Whereas a 5-minute shower (the water is turned off while soaping) uses between 60 and 75 litres of water. But we're not perfectly committed... And we have to admit that a little bath from time to time can greatly boost morale, or relieve aches and pains. So if we can have a nice bath with real benefits for our skin, it's even better!

A bomb in my bath?
A bath bomb is like a large effervescent tablet that you put in your bath before you get in. When it comes into contact with water, it effervesces and dissolves fairly quickly. You can easily find them in the shops in the form of a ball, cube, heart, flower, etc. There are coloured, scented, decorated, flowery and sometimes even glittery ones.

They are absolutely not used to wash yourself, but rather to relax, after a sporting effort, a day of stress... You should know that bath bombs can nevertheless have beneficial effects on your skin depending on the ingredients they contain (oils, butters, clays...).

It is the mixture of citric acid (an acid) and sodium bicarbonate (a base) which, on contact with water, fizzes! The chemical reaction between the acid and the base produces carbon dioxide (pffschh) and a salt: sodium citrate. Depending on the size of the bath bomb, the effervescence lasts 1 to 2 minutes before the bath bomb is completely dissolved.
