Different Types of Wrenches Used In Industries for Efficient Bolting Tasks
Wrenches are integral part of any industry. There are different types of wrenches used in industries for various purposes. These tools are utilized for performing the bolting operations in any industry in an efficient way. The bolting operations are very crucial in the industries as they define the level of quality and safety in the company premises. If these operations are not performed in a perfect way, then it not only hampers the quality of the products but can also cause serious accidents at workplace. In order to perform the bolting process properly and efficiently, adequate bolting tools must be used in industries. Wrenches help the workers in tightening and loosening of bolts, nuts, studs and other fasteners effectively. Below are discussed several types of wrenches that are utilized in industries.
Open end wrenches
The open end wrenches are manually operated and have an opening at each
end. The openings at both ends are of different sizes, which allow the users to
use a single wrench to operate on two different sized fasteners. The openings
are also inclined at an angle of 370 to the operating shaft, which
makes it easy to operate the wrench. The open end wrenches are the most
commonly used wrenches although they cannot be used for operation that demand
high power and high speed operation.
Impact Wrenches
The Impact wrenches are used in industries for operations that demand a very high amount of force and speed for operation. The impact wrenches utilize a very high impact force that moves the fastener and eventually tightens or loosens it. The impact wrenches are very efficient for bolting tasks and are used in industries like automobiles. The impact wrenches cannot be used with the normal sockets as the normal sockets are not designed to bear such high impacts and can be shattered after a short span of time. There are specially designed power sockets or impact sockets that can be used with the impact wrenches. These sockets are made from high quality high speed steel, which can bear the high impacts during operation and do not deform or shatter easily.
Torque wrenches
The impact wrenches provide high
speed and power, but they are not very accurate in operation. For best level of
accuracy, the torque wrenches or torque multipliers are used. The torque
wrenches are very accurate as they offer a means of measuring the amount of
force applied to the fastener. In this way, it becomes very easy to determine
when to stop the application of force. In addition to that, the torque wrenches
also have a very quite operation, hence can be used in areas where noise is not
needed. There are several different types of torque multipliers available in
the markets such like simple, hydraulic and electric torque multipliers.
Apart from these, there are also nut splitters, flange spreaders, box wrenches, and many other bolting tools that make the bolting operations easy and efficient in the industry and help in enhancing the level of quality and safety in the industries.
