Cloud Computing to Create More Than 1 Million Jobs in India By 2022

The increasing usage of cloud computing in India is expected to generate over a million new jobs in the next 5 years. According to a research by IDC, over 1 million direct and indirect jobs will be created by cloud computing companies in the next few years. This will contribute to over $17 billion in business revenues to the GDP of India by 2022.

Companies like Salesforce, an American Cloud Computing company, is expected to generate business revenue of over $4 billion by 2020, and over $5 billion by 2022. With major impact to be in finance, IDC forecasts that by 2022, over 500.000 new jobs will be created in the country. India has already undergone a robust growth in this field. Cloud computing is currently growing faster than IT as a whole, and with a major supply of dedicated server hosting in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi and other strategic cities, the scope could service providers in India is on the high rise

The growth of cloud computing in India is expected to support business innovation and aid towards faster completion of operations and reduction of various operational costs. An annual growth rate of about 17% is forecasted for cloud computing. This will anchor various investments and support various digital transformation projects.

An interesting observation is that organizations and companies that spend on subscription for cloud computing also do spend a lot on products and services that are ancillary. These may include professional services, managed services, additional cloud subscriptions and so on.
Some reasons to why businesses are spending so much on this technology are for these benefits:

1. REDUCED IT COST
Moving to the cloud can reduce the cost of maintenance and management. Businesses can avoid the purchase of expensive systems and equipment.

2. SCALABILITY
Scalability is one of the major benefits of cloud computing. Businesses can scale up or down depending on operational and storage requirements.

Cloud computing can keep data secure and safe with ensured backup facilities enabling a continuous business operation flow. Businesses can access their data at their convenience.

Though these are just a few examples of advantages cloud computing offers, there are others such as Collaboration Efficiency, Access to Automatic Updates and Flexibility of Work Practices that can give business a lot of leverage in gaining competitive advantages.

Given these benefits, it is fully understandable why businesses are heavily investing in cloud computing. Although there is no doubt vested interests from a business’s point of view, the result of generating thousands of new job cannot be neglected. As the years proceed, we hope that there will be more jobs created for the needed people of India.
