Canon XF305 MXF workflow for FCP, Edit XF305 MXF in FCP X/7/6 on Mac
Do you have difficulty in importing Canon XF305 MXF media files to Final Cut Pro X or FCP 6/7 for editing? The easy workaround is to transcode mts to ProRes codec with a professional MXF converter Mac. Below is how.
Q: “I have a load of footage shot on Canon XF305 - as far as I know Canon XF utility was not used to capture from CF cards on location, the files were simply copied into folders straight from the cards. Adobe Premiere seems to recognise the MXFs but not FCP 7. All I have is a number of user named folders (dated) containing numbered clip folders (e.g. AA0123), INDEX.MIF file and a JOURNAL folder (empty).
Inside the clip folders are four files, and to give you an example;
AA012301.MXF
AA0123.CIF
AA012301.SIF
AA0123.XML
XML details;
CANON263049900009XF3051.0.0.0
Can anyone help me figure out how to get these clips into FCP7, without loss of quality - have already installed XF plugin from Canon’s website and it doesn’t seem to work.”
Canon XF305 is one of the successful camcorder in the XF series camcorders, it record vivid HD videos in MPEG-2 compression with MXF as format. With the stunning features, you can record the special moments and keep the memory forever. Some Canon XF305 users would like to further edit Canon MXF video with editing software like Final Cut Pro to make it much more perfect.
